Originally designed by American architect and civil engineer Emil Praeger in the early 1950’s, Pier 57 was the largest dock ever built by the City of New York. It was completed in 1954, built by the New York City Marine and Aviation Department.

The pier served as a shipping terminal for several years before succumbing to the decline in the city’s maritime industry. It served as a parking garage for the city’s buses for three decades and had been vacant since 2003. In 2004 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Fast forward to the present, where Google stands as the esteemed client steering this remarkable undertaking. It is only befitting that a venture of such grandeur would align with Google's ethos, promising a seamlessly immersive user experience that resonates both internally and externally across the sprawling expanse of Pier 57's campus.

Charcoalblue Experience was entrusted with leading the design and delivery of the Event and Guest Experience. The team artfully led the Audio-Visual design, experiential narratives, bespoke content integration, theatrical lighting and rigging, across the expansive canvas of the campus.

Crafting a unique delivery model, Charcoalblue Experience ensured the convergence of all stakeholders towards the client's vision. Amidst the intricate tapestry of vendors, architects, integrators, designers, and the dedicated client teams, clarity and simplicity emerged as the guiding principles that propelled the project towards success.

Pier 57, once a maritime giant, now stands reborn as an epitome of innovation, seamlessly melding the spirit of yesteryears with the technological marvels of today. The echoes of its transformation resonate as a tribute to collective vision, artistic finesse, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.

The Experience team were instrumental in their roles to deliver this landmark project and illustrates our dedication, expertise, and commitment. Pier 57 has been transformed into a canvas of innovation and excellence. It showcases what can be achieved through collaboration, vision, and the drive from our team.

Charcoalblue were an excellent partner on the project, I am doubtful the project would have been successful without their involvement.
